At JettyCloud, there are many different technological teams. We're starting a series of stories about them and their work. Engineering Manager Irina Skaterschikova talked about what the Billing team does: "Billing is a full-stack team. We work with Java 17, Spring Boot framework, Oracle, Typescript, Rabbit MQ, Docker, and Kubernetes. We're involved in developing and maintaining the Billing Admin Portal. It's an internal high-load service that allows managing and configuring billing both at the level of individual users of our service and the entire billing system as a whole. Currently, we're working on two major projects: developing and supporting tools for partners that help us actively sell the service and increase profit, as well as developing new and improving existing tools for managing the billing catalog with a UI. For example, there's a lot you can do from the portal: change cards, transfer to another subscription, change payment methods, give discounts to users, or suspend them, access billing history, and much more... With a few clicks from the UI, our financial specialists can independently create new subscription plans or expand existing ones, change prices for offered services, manage subscriptions for sales, for partners, create new services for sale, and plan their launch. All this can be done without the involvement of engineers and without adjusting to release cycles! As for what motivates in my team, there are several positive points for me: - We're working on an unusual and important product for the system — we managed to fit and store different things in one architecture: price, provisioning settings, and much more, and it's all user-friendly! It's not just a portal where you can set prices and so on — it's a complex system where all components interact with each other. - We have short development and delivery cycles, which keeps us on our toes. Quality and product stability are important to us. - Of course, my colleagues: I enjoy working with them, they're interested in the product and its development. Their expertise motivates me, there's something to learn from each of them."
